Bad news for the Detroit Lions, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that defensive lineman Alim McNeill will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL during Sunday’s 48-42 loss to the Buffalo Bills. In addition, cornerback Carlton Davis suffered a fractured jaw, and is expected to sideline him for six weeks.

McNeill, 24, was injured midway through the third quarter, appearing to land awkwardly after leaping in an attempt to deflect a pass by Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen. He was quickly ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s game; before suffering the injury he recorded 25 total tackles with 3.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, and seven quarterback hits. McNeill missed four weeks last season with an MCL sprain suffered in Week 13 against the New Orleans Saints, and returned for the season finale against Minnesota and Detroit’s playoff run.

Davis, 27, has posted 11 passes defensed with two interceptions, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries. He could potentially be back in time for the NFC championship game, should Detroit advance to the postseason. Davis started 13 games this season and has recorded 56 tackles this season, two for loss, two interceptions, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Detroit will be on the road and will play the Chicago Bears in Week 16.
