Serj Tankian has announced Covers, Collaborations & Collages, a new album compiling previously unreleased cover songs, collaborations, and other tracks set to be released October 24th.

Leading up to the album’s release, Tankian will unveil a new song each week, along with an accompanying video telling the story behind each track. The first track of the album, “Electric Dreams,” was just released; take a listen – HERE.

Tankian explains in an introductory video that the recording for “Electric Dreams” itself is over 20 years old; and much of Covers, Collaborations & Collages is also archival recordings. The release is also set to feature a handful of covers and collaborations with artists such as Deadmau5.  Tankian said: “Similar to Foundations, these are pre-existing archival recordings, some of them from way back. I wanted to put out a record of collaborations I haven’t released before, along with covers, which I haven’t done. The rest, the collages, are parts that fit the puzzle in the same tone, the same vibe.”

Among the collaborations are “The Seed” featuring Deadmau5; “Things Unspoken” featuring Bic Runga; and “Apocalyptical Dance” featuring Lucas Vidal. One of the covers is a reimagination of Chris de Burgh’s “I’m Counting on You,” while another is a version of Armenian songwriter Ruben Hakhverdyan’s “When Death Arrives.”
