Miami Dolphins cornerbacks Kader Kohou (4) celebrates with Jalen Ramsey (5) after an interception against the Los Angeles Chargers during an NFL football game^ Sept. 10^ 2023^ in Inglewood^ Calif.

The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers confirmed Monday that the Dolphins are sending All-Pro cornerback Jalen Ramsey, Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith and a 2027 seventh round pick to Pittsburg, in exchange for All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and a 2027 fifth round pick to the Dolphins, pending physicals.

Ramsey confirmed the news on X: “Break my own news! 🤟🏾 #HereWeGo @steelers” Both Ramsey and the Dolphins, where he spent the past two seasons, had mutually agreed earlier this year to part ways.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Ramsey will get a $1.5 million raise this season, bringing his 2025 compensation up to $26.6 million. He signed a three-year, $72 million contract with the Dolphins in September. Ramsey, 30, joined the Dolphins through a 2023 trade with the Los Angeles Rams, and has appeared in 27 games over the last two seasons and totaled 60 combined tackles, 11 passes defensed, six tackles for a loss, and two interceptions over 17 starts last season.

Sources told NFL Network that the Steelers also agreed to adjust Ramsey’s contract, giving the All-Pro cornerback a $1.5 million raise and pushing his 2025 salary to $26.6 million. They also agreed to give Smith a one-year, $12 million extension.

Smith was to make $4 million from the Dolphins in 2025. The eight-year veteran registered career-highs in targets (111), catches (88) and receiving yards (884) last season, when he also matched his career-high in receiving scores (8).

Fitzpatrick was selected 11th overall by the Dolphins before being traded for a package that included a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. After arriving in Pittsburgh, he has become one of the league’s premier safeties, making three All-Pro teams and five Pro Bowls, while recording 18 interceptions and 45 pass breakups.
