The long-running racing action series Fast & Furious will conclude with its 11th installment, Fast Forever, scheduled to reach theaters on March 17, 2028. Franchise star Vin Diesel will reprise his role as Dominic Toretto in what is planned as the series finale..

Diesel, 58, shared an Instagram post announced the final chapter, alongside a photograph from an earlier film. That image shows Diesel standing by a car as Paul Walker, who died in 2013, hands him a key:  “No one said the road would be easy… but it’s ours. One that has defined us and become our legacy… And a legacy… lasts forever. March 17th 2028! FAST FOREVER”

The Fast & Furious series launched in 2001 and has since grown into one of the highest-grossing film franchises in history, earning more than $7 billion worldwide. The upcoming movie follows the 2023 release of Fast X, which was directed by Louis Leterrier, who will also direct Fast Forever.

Details about the plot, cast lineup, and production team have not yet been announced. Previously, Diesel hinted that the finale would bring the story back to its street racing origins and possibly reunite his character with Walker’s Brian O’Conner, using modern filmmaking techniques if needed. When Walker died in November 2013 while Furious 7 was still in production, his character’s remaining scenes were completed through CGI, archival footage and the use of brothers Caleb and Cody Walker as stand-ins.

The franchise has featured a large ensemble over the years — including the 2019 spinoff Hobbs & Shaw that starred Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham — and has surpassed $7 billion at the global box office. Franchise mainstays including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster and Sung Kang, along with newer additions like Statham, John Cena, Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, Jason Momoa, helped the series grow into a global box office powerhouse.
