BARCELONA - JUN 19: rapper in concert at Sonar Festival on June 19^ 2015 in Barcelona^ Spain.

Rising rapper Nettspend has teamed up with YoungBoy Never Broke Again for the new music video for “Masked Up,” a standout track from Nettspend’s debut album Early Life Crisis.

“Masked Up” arrives shortly after the video for Who TF Is U, which was shot in Nettspend’s home state of Virginia and helped build momentum around the album’s release.

The video for the song, produced by CXO, was filmed in Utah (where YoungBoy lives). The visual features gritty nighttime scenes of the two artists hanging out in a parking lot as cars spin donuts nearby. The lo-fi visual captures the pair dancing, smoking and joking around, with quick flashes of jewelry and designer pieces — including Nettspend’s Gucci belt — cutting through the dark setting.

The 21-track Early Life Crisis project has made a major impact, and quickly climbed to No. 2 on Spotify’s global and U.S. album charts while generating more than seven million streams within its first day. The release also debuted in the Top 10 of Apple Music’s overall album chart and landed in the Top 5 on the platform’s hip-hop rankings.

In a previous interview with GQ, Nettspend explained his early drive to pursue music. “As a kid, I just knew I wanted to make music. That was always at the back of my head, because my family loves it. I just knew I had to work for it.” He also reflected on the experience of performing overseas for the first time: “I think the thing that really opened my eyes was when I left the country for the first time. As soon as I got off the plane, everything felt different. It’s like when you get high for the first time. Wherever else you go, it doesn’t feel like the first time you left the country. After you leave for the first time, you kind of understand what it’s like leaving. You don’t get that feeling again.”

After selling out his first tour in Australia earlier this year, Nettspend is now scheduled to appear at Rolling Loud Orlando in May.
