Peter Dinklage is heading to outer space once again—this time with a major role in FX’s Alien: Earth. The Emmy-winning star of ‘Game of Thrones’ has officially joined Season 2 as a series regular, though details about his character are still being kept secret.

Created by Noah Hawley, the sci-fi drama serves as a prequel to Alien, unfolding two years before the events of the original movie. The series marks the franchise’s first venture into television and follows a story led by Sydney Chandler, who plays Wendy, a humanoid robot. The ensemble cast also includes Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adarsh Gourav, Timothy Olyphant, and David Rysdahl.

After debuting last summer and earning a renewal in November, the show is preparing to begin production on its second season in May at London’s Pinewood Studios—home to past “Alien” productions like Alien 3 and Prometheus. Season 1 was previously filmed in Thailand.

Dinklage, widely recognized for his award-winning portrayal of Tyrion Lannister on GOT, continues to stay busy across film and television. His recent work includes roles in “Roofman,” “Wicked,” and Dexter: Resurrection, as well as FX’s “The Lowdown.”

“Alien: Earth” is executive produced by Hawley along with Ridley Scott and a team of producers, and is developed under FX Productions.
