Kacey Musgraves is officially making a return to Coachella in 2026, announcing a surprise performance during Weekend 2 of the festival.  Musgraves will take the stage on Saturday, April 18, filling the same high-visibility Mojave Tent slot previously taken by Jack White during the festival’s first weekend.

Festival organizers confirmed the addition of Musgraves when releasing the updated Weekend 2 schedule on April 14, prompting some Weekend 1 attendees to express disappointment at missing the surprise. The revised lineup also includes slight set-time adjustments for Sabrina Carpenter and Karol G.

Weekend 2 will also feature major performances from Anyma, Blood Orange, Disclosure, and Sexyy Red on Friday; Justin Bieber, David Byrne, Interpol, and Armin van Buuren with Ada Beyer on Saturday; and BIGBANG, Kaskade, and Young Thug closing out Sunday.

Musgraves’ 50-minute set is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. PT, shortly after gates open at 1:00 p.m., giving early attendees a standout performance to kick off the day. Musgrave posted on Instagram as the news broke: “Somewhere on the way to ★ 𝑪𝒐𝒂𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒂 ★”

The Coachella appearance arrives just ahead of Musgraves’ upcoming album Middle of Nowhere, dropping May 1st. Fans are anticipating live debuts of new material, including the recently released single “Dry Spell.” The project follows her 2024 release Deeper Well and includes collaborations with artists such as Willie Nelson, Miranda Lambert, and Billy Strings, alongside songwriting contributions from Luke Laird, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Brandy Clark. In discussing the album, Musgraves shared: “The bulk of this record was made during the longest single period of my life. I found that for the first time, it actually felt incredible being alone and existing in a space not defined by anyone else. I became fascinated with the concept of liminal space, both geographical and emotional. We don’t linger in these transitional, empty spaces long enough and rush to define where or whatever is next.”
